If you want a Janitor AI alternative, you probably want one of three things: the bot library without the proxy setup, a paid tier that does not feel like a paywall, or a site that sends images. Short version: Janitor AI's free tier is still free, and if the library is what you came for and text is enough, staying is reasonable. What changed at Janitor AI in 2026
Three dated facts, each from Janitor AI's own pages.
- Janitor+ launched on 24 June 2026 at $12.99 a month. It adds five times the context, unlimited priority messages, monthly swipes on the frontier models and a badge. The launch post says the free version stays exactly the same.
- The free tier is defined. The help centre lists it as unlimited chats on the standard models with a context limit of about 9k tokens. Payment for Janitor+ goes through Stripe, and subscriptions are generally non-refundable.
- Router arrived on 30 July 2026. It lets Janitor+ subscribers use third-party models inside the site, billed per token from a built-in wallet, without an external proxy. It is web-only and subscriber-only, with a 10% discount on some models. The launch post offered $5 of free credits; the help centre has said $1 since 31 July.
Two more things from the same sources. Janitor AI has no images and no voice; the launch post lists "voice and image" among plans in the works. And the changelog between August and October 2026 records a memory bug that hit about 15,000 chats, a period of site instability, and slower search, each fixed, each noted by the team itself.
None of this is a scandal. It is a free site adding a paid tier and growing pains in public. But it is why "janitor ai alternative" is being searched.
Four Janitor AI rules to know before you leave
Some reasons to leave are rules that a setting or a country decides, not the product itself. Each of these comes from Janitor AI's help centre.
- The app starts in safe mode. To meet App Store and Google Play rules, a new install hides NSFW bots, tunes the model for safe replies and blocks some explicit words. The fix is on the website, not in the app: turn on the NSFW setting for the app in your profile settings, then restart the app. If the app felt filtered, this may be all you need.
- NSFW bots must be tagged Limitless. Any bot with sexual or romantic themes, even with a safe thumbnail, has to carry the tag; Limited bots have none of that. A bot that suddenly refuses may be tagged wrongly, not filtered.
- Three countries need an age check. Since 24 April 2026 visitors from Australia and Brazil, and since 15 June visitors from the United Kingdom, verify their age once through k-ID: a face estimate on the device, an ID scan, or an existing AgeKey. Janitor AI says it receives only a yes or no.
- An app subscription is cancelled in the app store. A Janitor+ plan bought on the web is managed on Stripe's billing page; one bought in the iOS or Android app can be cancelled only through the App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions are generally non-refundable.

LewdChat.ai: roleplay without the setup
On Janitor AI you pick a bot from a huge public feed and, for the better models, bring your own connection. On LewdChat.ai the site writes and tests every character, and the models are already wired in. Four differences matter most to someone coming from Janitor AI.
No key, no proxy, no Router
Every chat runs on a model the site provides. You can change it in the chat's Change Model dialog, and the price per message shows before you pick. The three Basic models cost 2 coins a message on every plan. The Pro models cost 3 to 30 coins and need a paid plan or a one-day pass, and the Max models need Elite. There is nothing to configure and nothing to paste.
Images in the chat
Ask for an image at any point in the scene and the character sends one that matches it. She keeps one face from image to image, so the woman in the tenth picture is the woman in the first. Janitor AI has no images at all.
No daily cap, no card
There is no daily limit and no waiting room: coins are the only meter. A free account gets 50 welcome coins, 25 messages on the Basic models, and daily check-ins add more. A 1,000-coin pack is $4.99 and is 500 messages. You buy coins with crypto through NOWPayments or with Telegram Stars through Telegram; no card number reaches the site. Context and reply length
The free plan keeps a 4,000-token context and replies of up to 150 words. Premium raises that to 16,000 tokens and 250 words, Deluxe to 32,000 and 300, Elite to 48,000 and 350. On the free tiers Janitor AI keeps more (about 9k tokens against 4k), and its help centre says its own model starts to forget past 8k to 9k; Janitor+ promises five times the free context.
What Janitor AI does better: the library. Its help centre speaks of millions of bots, and anyone can create one. LewdChat.ai has a curated roster with no user uploads, so there are far fewer characters, each one written and tested by the site.
The other alternatives, honestly
SpicyChat
The closest like-for-like replacement: a user-made library, bots marked NSFW and a free tier with ads, with no proxy to set up. Its prices and image tiers are in the table; the SpicyChat alternatives post has the detail.
SillyTavern
Software you run yourself, connected to any model provider. It reads character cards, so it is the one place a Janitor AI bot can follow you, and it has no limits beyond your provider's bill. The cost is setup time and a provider account, which is the thing most Janitor AI users are trying to leave behind.
Crushon AI
A ladder of plans priced in message credits. The free plan gives 100 credits a month and unlimited use of the free models; paid plans run from $5.99 to $199.99 a month, and unlimited Pro models cost $39.99 a month on top. It takes cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Bitcoin. Its content rules could not be read on the day of the check, so look at them before you pay.
Moving over from Janitor AI
No site can take your Janitor AI chats or private bots, and LewdChat.ai takes no uploads. What carries over is taste.
